Herefordshire Primary Schools Swimming Gala - 2023

The annual primary schools swimming gala will be hosted by the City of Hereford Swimming Club on Saturday 4th March at Hereford Leisure Pool. 

The important dates to remember are:

  • 8th February – Deadline for return of entries
  • 4th March (PM) – Primary Schools Swimming Gala

It is important that you read the organiser’s conditions below:

  1. The event is based on Swim England and FINA rules.
  2. Entries will only be accepted on the entry form provided, only one entry form per school. Only one
    swimmer’s name is allowed in each space on the entry form. Entries are to be sent to
    primary.schools@herefordswimming.club
  3. Entries will only be processed once payment has been received. Bank details: Lloyds sort code: 30-94-99
    account number 00148007.
  4. Entry fees are £3.00 per individual event and £5.00 per relay team
  5. Once all entries processed, gala timings and programme will be forwarded to schools.
  6. Places for entries AND SPECTATOR TICKETS will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
    Each school will be issued with one spectator ticket for each INDIVIDUAL swimmer entered (i.e. each
    shaded square on the entry form – there are no tickets for relay entries) – SCHOOLS WILL NEED TO SELL
    THEIR ALLOCATION OF TICKETS. There will be NO ADMISSION without a ticket.
  7. All swimmers must be in the school year for the event in which they are entered. A relay team can
    comprise of pupils from any mixture of those year groups specified.
  8. Racing blocks will be available for dive starts. It is the school’s responsibility to ensure swimmers using the
    blocks are competent. Swimmers may also dive from the pool side or start in the water. All swimmers
    must start in the water at the shallow end of the pool when swimming relays.
  9. The medley relay comprises one length each of Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Frontcrawl – in that
    order.
  10. Schools must provide at least one responsible adult to supervise their team. Up to two adults per team are
    allowed poolside. Two poolside passes will be issued to each school entering.
  11. There are no finals - the results of each event are determined on the basis of Heat Declared Winner. The
    fastest three swimmers out of all the heats for a given event will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze
    awards
